Masters of Rietveld, Comissioned by the Sandberg
Institute, 2006. 1500 copies, 4000 images
This book shows what Jean Baudrillard already said
thirty years ago; many images we see are citations of
citations of citations. We live amid a flood of superficial
images whose original points of reference have disap-
peared. All the images I searched are ordered by form
and because the images rhyme I can ‘morph’ from one
student to the other through all their references. It be-
comes one big string of almost 3000 images categorized
by form in which I mix high and low, commerce and art
etc. Just like the world around us in which image cate-
gories have been abolished; opposites seem to go
effortlessly hand in hand, war and fashion, underground
and success, science and glamour. |
